MANILA, Jan. 7 -– People in Luzon are in for colder weather as the temperature is expected to dip further in coming days brought about by the northeast monsoon or hanging amihan.
The northeast monsoon is known to be at peak in January and February which now already prevails in Luzon. Temperature during the evening and at dawn will be colder.
Weatherman Fernando Cada noted that available historical PAGASA data indicate lowest average temperature of 21°C can be expected in Metro Manila.
But temperature may not dip lower than the record, however, in Baguio city the thermometer can drop to 11°C.
The cold, dry air mass from Russian Siberia travels across the Pacific as the northeast monsoon gathers moisture.
The prevailing weather could last until March, the state weather bureau said.
