At the height of the Calabanga town fiesta of September 7, another event was unfolding at the Naga city coliseum. It was the most prestigious regional beauty pageant in southern Luzon, the search for Miss Bicolandia of 2011 that was unfolding.
For several years now, the pageant was being held outside the official window of the Peñafrancia celebrations, this to preserve the solemnity and true value of the religious festivities. Anyhow, the pomp and pageantry of the search did not diminish. It always turn out a success with the selection of a Bicol lass proudly bestowed the title and wearing the crown at the end of the search.
This year’s winners are Miss Bicolandia 2011 Roxanne Joy Jesalva of Sorsogon (center), from left Casey Austria form Albay, fourth runner-up; Kris Estrada Ortiz of Naga, second runner-up; Katherine Joanne Reis from Naga, first runner-up; and Lourdes Aurora Cu of Naga, third runner-up.
Seventeen Bicolanas vied for the title during the pageant night.
Previous Miss Bicolandia pageants produced title holders in the likes of Maria Venus Raj, Melody Gersbach, Diane Necio and many others.
