I’m unboxing a new black Snowball Ice USB mic from Blue Microphones.
Opted just to buy the cheap one (ha, ha), the best we can afford (sic).
It is a cardioid mic, the most common type in the market today. A unidirectional microphone to be specific, a cardioid mike, aptly named because the sensitivity pattern is “heart-shaped.”
This type we opted to get will only catch the sound directly in front of the input device. The more features, like capturing sound on the opposite end (back face of the mic) meant additional cost. And so on.
