Comelec Junks Muhlach Disqualification Case

2013_0315_agamErstwhile matinee idol and newbie politician Aga Muhlach must have learned of the good news earlier. We are referring to the decision by the Commission on Elections for dismissal of the disqualification case filed against him. The Comelec ruled Muhlach complied with the one-year residency requirement in San Jose town of Camarines Sur.

The candidate’s election lawyer Romulo Macalintal revealed yesterday he received a copy of the March 5, 2013 resolution by the second division under presiding Commissioner Elias Yusoph and concurred by Commissioner Maria Gracia Cielo Padaca.

According to Macalintal the Comelec recognized Muhlach’s residency when he transferred his address, business interests and communications with the BIR. The electoral agency ruled these acts were indication of Aga’s intention to live in San Jose.

Aga Muhlach is the official candidate of the Liberal Party vying for the seat of the 4rth district of Camarines Sur against comebacking one-time congressman William Fuentebella. William’s father, Arnulfo, is completing his third term.

Muhlach was spotted in his sorties in the area accompanied by wife Charlene Gonzales Muhlach and on one occasion by Sharon Cuneta in Siruma, Camarines Sur.
