Three police officers assigned in Station 10 of the Bacolod City Police office are in hot water after they figured in pawning of a service firearm issued by the government. The same firearm was recovered in a vehicle used by suspected drug pusher Ricky Sereño. The Bacolod City Police Office is under the newly-constituted Negros Island Region, Police Regional Office 18.

What could be the reason why three Philippine National Police personnel of Bacolod Police Office had to pawn their service firearm issued by the government?

This and some boiling questions will have to get prompt and fitting answer from Police Officers 3 Joel Gacho and Eugene Tamayo, and Senior Police Officer 1 Cheryl Gimena.

These Cops are all assigned at Police Station 10 in Barangay Handumanan now facing both criminal and administrative charges.

The local police office already confirmed the three erring police officers were sacked from their posts upon confirmation that indeed their 9-mm Glock service firemarms werepawned.

Their immidiate superior, station chief Senior Inspector Ritchie Gohee, has made recommendations for their transfer to the Bacolod City Public Safety Company under the supervision of Supt. Luisito Acebuche effective August 30.

Gacho’s serive firearm was found in a vehicle used by suspected drug pusher Ricky Sereño. Sereñoo attempted the abduction of two alleged drug runners on August 28.

Gacho admitted that Gimena helped in the pawning of his service firearm for P15,000.

But Gacho denied any involement in the attempted abduction and in illegal drug activities.

Bacolod Police acting director, Sr. Supt. Flynn Dongbo clarified pawning of firearm is considered a grave offense that could lead to suspension or dismissal from the service.

The police office is filing criminal charges for malversation of government property and grave misconduct against Gaho.

Gimena and Tamayo are facing administrative charges for insubordination. (With PNA report)
