President Duterte appoints Martin Diño as new SBMA chief

NEW SBMA Chief. Former May 2016 presidential candidate Martin Diño was appointed chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. The appointment was dated September 23, 2016. The new presidential appointee will hold his post for six years or in concurrent tenure with that of President Rodrigo Duterte. The new chief of the premier Freeport is the father of Liza Diño, the wife of entertainer Aiza Seguerra. The younger Diño was earler appointed by the president as the chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines, while Seguerra was sworn as the chairman of the National Youth Commission. SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Sept. 30 — Former May 2016 presidential candidate Martin Diño was appointed chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority or SBMA. The appointment was dated September 23, 2016.

The new SBMA head will take the place of chairman Roberto Garcia, an appointee of former President Benigno S. Aquino, III.

The new presidential appointee will hold his post for six years or in concurrent tenure with that of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Mr. Diño was a presidential aspirant in the 2016 national and local elections but later withdrew and nominated former Davao City Mayor Duterte as the substitute standard bearer of PDP-Laban.

He was the former chairman of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption.

The outgoing SBMA chief urged employees to throw full support and cooperation to incoming Diño.

A transition team alredy was created for the purpose, and tasked to conduct briefing and orientation for the incoming group on current SBMA operations, programs and plans to facilitate a smooth transition.
