NAGA CITY, Sept. 21 — President Rodrigo R. Duterte is expected to visit government security forces in Bicol under the 9th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Camp Elias Angeles located in Barangay San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur today.
Upon arrival in the morning in Naga City he will proceed to the camp for a situation briefing with the 9th Iinfantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Manolito P. Orense.
As with other scheduled visits of various camps and military personnel, Duterte will give a talk to the Army soldiers, also known as Spear Division, at the multi-purpose gym.
The President will also join a boodle fight with the soldiers and have a brief photo session.
It must be recalled that on September 3, the 49th Infantry Battalion of the 9th ID was sent to augment government troops fighting in Mindanao. Also, men from the 65th IB, from the 9th ID, were earlier deployed to the same area.
This, after Duterte visited the military troopers in August in Camp General Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu for a first hand information on the operations against the Abu Sayyaf Group.
Camp Bautista was the eighth military camp visited by the president since he assumed office.
President Duterte is devoting more time going around military camps in the country since his inauguration.
The commander in chief has been promising soldiers benefits and giving assurances they will be given what is due them while soliciting support and loyalty for his programs.
The presidential communications office justifies the military camp visits as President Duterte’s way of boosting morale of military personnel. (with PNA report by Connie Destura)
