Two of the three drug mayors from Lanao del Sur identified by the president surfaced in the office of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Friday.

The suspeced drug personalities, Maguing Mayor Mamaulan Abinal Molok and former Mayor Mohammadali Abinal of Marantao, Lanao del Sur, husband of the incumbent mayor, surrendered at the office of the PNP chief in Quezon City.

The third mayor, Rasul Sangki of Ampatuan, Maguindanao, who was expected to surrender together with Molok and Abinal, got stuck in traffic in Guadalupe but later gave himself up at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Dela Rosa said the two mayors admitted they distributed narcotics in Quiapo, Manila, Caloocan and Cavite from 2000 to 2002 but they denied that they were involved in the drug trade in their respective municipalities.

”They were really involved in illegal drugs, that is why they surrendered. They admitted it,” the PNP chief said, noting that the two were operating under a certain “Marimar” from 2001 to 2002.

Dela Rosa said that both mayors pledged to lead the war against illegal drugs in their municipalities and will be sent to the CIDG, which will get their statements.

He noted that he will not offer the white house to them anymore as they could return to their respective municipalities after the investigation in the absence of arrest warrants against them.
