As the President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s inauguration rite nears, more drug personalities are either busted or meet their death in the hands of police officers. Is this mere coincidence or cops are upstaging their buddies to be recognized of their loyalty to the new Malacañang tenant?

Senior Insp. Bernardo Peñero and Senor Insp. Andrew Alcomendas, chiefs of police of San Jose and Lagonoy municipal police stations, respectively, were serving the search warrants but instead were engaged in a shoot out with a 38-year old alleged drug pusher in Gawad Kalinga site in Barangay Telegrafo of San Jose, Camarines Sur about 4 o’clock PM Monday.

Suspect Roy S. Abragan was brought to the Partido district Hospital but subsequently declared dead on arrival. Jarmark Hara, a companion of Abragan and also subject of a search warrant surrendered without any untoward incident.

In a separate anti-drug operation, joint operatives of the Masbate City police station and Masbate provincial intelligence bureau apprehended a suspected drug pusher and a buyer on Monday afternoon along Boulevard Extension in Barangay Ibingay of Masbate City.

Arrested suspects were alleged pusher Sharon G. Burdeos, 33, separated, jobless and resident of Sitio Matungao, Barangay Tugbo, and alleged user Jaylord E. Carmen, 18, single and a resident of Barangay Nursery, both of Masbate City.

They recovered from Burdeos one piece of pink sling bag (Lacoste brand) containing a small, colored green pouch with six medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Also recovered were a multi-colored pouch containing P1,100, a black face powder container with two aluminum foils, an empty medium-sized transparent plastic sachet which is believed to have shabu residue, a disposable lighter and two mobile phones.
