LP’s Leni Robredo tops tv ads campaign spending

These candidates who trace their roots to Bicol have spent a total of P.979 billion already from February 9 to April 27, 2016 for television advertisement alone according to the Nielsen Media data.

The list is topped by Liberal Party vice presidential candidate and Camarines Sur 1st district freshman representative Leni Robredo with P406.82 million. Robredo also topped the list of big spenders among candidates for vice president.

Independent Partido Galing at Puso vice presidential candidate Francis Escudero spent P269.05 million for the same referrenced inclusive dates, while Antonio Trillanes, IV and Gregorio Honasan disbursed P40.13 million and P21.83 million, respectively.

Of the candidates for senator, former MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino already spent P197.42 million followed by former Justice secretary Leila de Lima with P42.79 million.

Total for all above mentioned Bicol candidates is P979.04 million even as this do not reflect other expenses incurred which include salary of campaign staff, transportation and other campaign materials. It is good to take note here that these candidates also started their sorties even before the start of campaign period, and they will still have to wrap their moves up until the 8th of May.

Tha data also disclosed that independent Partido Galing at Puso presidential candidate Grace Poe has spent P429.79 million, PDP-Laban vice-presidential candidate Peter Alan Cayetano, P185.39 million; Independent vice-presidentail candidate Ferdinand Marcos, Jr, 45.64 million.

While candidates spend TV spots as individuals, the parties also feature ads with the candidates for president and vice president together. The party tandems which spend the most is led by Liberal Party with P83.87 million, then United Nationalist Alliance with P74.14 million and PDP-Laban with P60.80 million. Partido Galing at Puso and Miriam Santiago-Bongbong Marcos teams do not have tv tandem ads.

Senatorial candidates also pour financial resources on their tv campaign ads.

First on the list is Francis Tolentino – P197.42 million, Joel Villanueva – P150.81 million, Sherwin Gatchalian – P141.99 million, Martin Romualdez – P133.99 million, Franklin Drilon – P133.42 million, Ralph Recto – P188.8 million, Richard Gordon – P107.56 million, Francis Pangilinan – P105.32 million, Sergio Osmeña III – P99.57 million, Risa Hontiveros – P97.18 million, Jericho Petilla – P85.21 million, Juan Miguel Zubiri – P81.08 million, Leila de Lima – P42.79 million, Neri Colmenares – P48 million, Isko Moreno – P40.08 million, Emmanuel Pacquiao – P35.97 million, Vicente Sotto III – P24.38 million, Roman Romulo – P21.98 million, Panfilo Lacson Jr. – P11.65 million, Mark Lapid – P5.40 million, Rey Langit – P270,000.

To recap, by political party, the Roxas team spent P1.7 billion, Poe team with P1.16 billion, Duterte Team with 654.86 million, Binay team with P507.97 million, Santiago – P86.66 million.

We do not have data about the tv ad expenditures for Mar Roxas and Teofisto Guingona, Jr.
