Calatagan in Batangas hosts, boasts of largest solar farm facility in Luzon

The province of Batangas now hosts the largest solar farm in Luzon. The sustainable green energy project of Calatagan solar farm is located in a 160-hectare property which was locally developed, financed and constructed in Barangay Paraiso of Calatagan town.

The green energy source project in the main island of Luzon has over 200,000 panels with the capacity to supply electricity for the entire portion of western Batangas.

With a generating capacity of 63.3 megawatts, it is estimated to offset one million tons of carbon dioxide for three decades said to be comparable to planting over five million trees.

Solar Philippines CEO Leandro Leviste, the son of Senator Loren Legarda Leviste, during his welcome remarks at the inauguration on Wednesday, thanked all the employees and executives, the private banks that financed the projects, the provider of the solar panels and the government for the realization of the solar farm.

The 23 year old Leviste is a graduate of Yale University. In November 2014, he was also behind the solar rooftop panel project of the SM City North EDSA, powered by 5,760 solar panels installed at the rooftop of the multilevel parking building.
