14 Overseas Filipino workers die in Iraq’s Kurdistan high rise fire

Fourteen overseas Filipinos died in a hotel fire in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region Friday, the Malacanang confirmed with a sad note, saying it is working with Iraqi authorities to bring home their remains.

An update from the Department of Foreign Affairs said it already dispatched personnel, through the help of the United Nations, to visit the site and assess what government help could be extended.

The victims are reportedly working in a massage facility.

It must be recalled that on the eve of new year 2016, fire also gutted a high rise building in Dubai.
