Bottomline: Philippines rank low in 2015 Global Peace Index

smileredunhappyAccording to the 2015 rankings by the Global Peace Index among 162 countries worldwide, the Philippines is on the 141st. Hugging the bottom line is North Korea.

A dismal result, and perhaps, the true prevailing state in the country under the stewardship of President Benigno S. Aquino, III, despite its “Tuwid na Daan” advocacy?

Other ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member-countries ranked fairly well than the Philippines, like Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia, Vietnam. Also ahead are Cambodia Thailand and Myanmar.

Global Peace Index survey is being done yearly which started in 2007 by experts from the Institute for Economics and Peace.

Among the salient indicators used on the peace index include the level of safety, crime incidence, terrorism, and intensity of internal conflict.

In the case of the Philippines, the index was very low. The end result was largely pulled down by the indicators for “perceptions of criminality” and “violent crime,” both of which registered a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the worst.

Based on the grade, clearly, the Philippines is in the company of North Korea. What can we say more?
