Sandiganbayan grants detained Senator Estrada 3-hour forlough

MANILA, March 16 — Detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada was granted Monday a three-hour furlough by the Sandiganbayn to attend to his son’s high school graduation on Tuesday. The anti-graft court allowed Estrada to leave his detention in Camp Crame from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to attend the commencement exercises of his son Julian Emilio Ejercito at OB Montessori in San Juan.

Estrada, detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center is facing plunder and graft charges for alleged participation in the pork barrel scam. In his original two-page written motion, Estrada requested to be allowed a temporary furlough from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Despite shortened time, the detained senator vowed to abide by the anti-graft court decision. (PNA)
