Goa town officials face illegal detention charges, arrest warrants issued

GOA, Camarines Sur, March 24 -– Members of the Philippine National Police-Bicol have started serving the arrest warrant issued by a regional trial court judge against 35 persons that include the mayor, vice mayor, councilors and village chiefs of this town. Judge Noel D. Paulite, presiding judge of RTC Branch 30, San Jose, Camarines Sur, issued the arrest warrant on March 18.

The warrants, entitled People of the Philippines vs Alfredo “Pidong” Gonzada et al, was based on Criminal Case No. T-4032 for serious Illegal detention against the accuses and has no recommended bail for their temporary liberty.

The warrant named the subjects as Mayor Antero S. Lim, Vice Mayor Alfredo Gonzaga, municipal Councilor Alex Camacho of Goa, Camarines Sur, and village officials Amy de Vera, Redito Clarino, Siegfredo Tolentino, Ferdinand Melgarejo, Rogelio Primavera Jr., Jacinto Burce Jr., Antonio Senar, Virgilio Panuelos, Vicente Elorde Espinosa, Tomas Rances, Leo Cea, Busto Brutas, Herman Quingguing, Sabas Palmaria Jr., Venus Durante, Jesilda Regazpi, Francisco Tria, Arnulfo Clapis, Noel Del Rosario, Achilles Royol, Ronnie Callo, Arnelo Enrerino, Ezekiel Celian, Rodel Piloneo, Alfredo Patriarca Jr., Aguinaldo Punto, Victor Sumagpang, Malvin Calvo, Joel Baturiano, Oscar Cielo, Simeon Buenaagua and Rico Seguenza — all residents of the town.

The court has also informed the Department of Interior and Local Government which immediately formed a tracker team to arrest the suspects, some of whom could have already been temporarily hiding as a result of the issuance of a warrant of arrest without bail against them.
