Setting up the new region according to the Negros Occidental governor will entail a minimal cost as employees from both provinces will be tapped to ensure the delivery of services on both sides of the island. Negros is the only island in the Philippines that belongs to two different regions, the Oriental to Region 7 in Cebu City, while Occidental is part of Region 6 under Iloilo City.

Residents of both provinces speak different dialects. Negrenses in the Occidental side can speak and understand Cebuano, and many Oriental residents also speak and understand Hiligaynon. (with PNA report)
