Alleged 14K drug ring member, wife faces suit for possession of P.4-M shabu

DAVAO CITY, March 23 — A former municipal councilor alleged to be a member of the international drug ring 14-K, together with his wife earlier caught of drugs valued at P400,000 are facing drug charges filed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Named respondents in the case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were Marco Kadir Bua and his wife, Zenaida, both tagged as alleged leaders of Bua Drug Group operating in Davao City. Marco, a former councilor of Kabuntalan, Maguindanao, was reportedly a member of 14-K international drug syndicate and listed as priority target of PDEA in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

The couple was arrested at their residence at No. 95 Kingfisher Street, St. Michael Subdivision, in Ma-a, this city, at 6:30p.m last March 15, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge George Jabido of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 18 in Cotabato City. Seized from their possession was a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with an estimated weight of 50 grams valued at some P425,000. Based from their investigation, PDEA XI spokesperson Noli Dimaandal confirmed that Bua had connections with the international drug ring 14K and his area of operation is Davao region.

Last year, Philippine anti-drug agents have raided a laboratory in Lipa City where 84 kilograms of shabu were found and a member of Mexican drug cartel Sinaloa was also arrested. Sinoloa drug cartel in Mexico was also linked to the 14K international drug ring. PDEA also previously detailed the involvement of the 14K to the busted laboratory in Lipa City. (PNA/ By Jessie L.
