Investor-Developers to build 1st gas service retail outlet in SCTEX

MANILA, Feb. — Like a copy of gas service retail and store outlets in western countries, two investors are up to show the motorists and travelers in the Philippines the look and feel of one. That is, fill your car with gas, shop a little, eat some snacks and buy take home goodies, get some rest, all in one.

Seaoil Philippines Inc. and Double Dragon Properties Corporarion will team up to develop a mega (sic) gas station on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

SEAOIL Philippines, a large domestic independent oil company, announced it will collaborate with CityMall Commercial Centers Inc. of the Double Dragon Properties entity in putting up the service station along the SCTEX.

It will be the first of its kind in the expressway, which will be located in a 2-hectare property, midway from Baguio and Manila, with targeted operation by the end of 2015.

The highway stop will offer services of fast-food chains, convenience stores, rest rooms (expected), parking slots (of course) and relaxation corners.

Seaoil CEO Glenn Yu noted this is also important since it features 100 percent Filipino-owned companies.

“This is one of our biggest projects this year and it is very significant because the agreement features the convergence of 100 percent Filipino-owned companies. We are honored to partner with Double Dragon,” Yu said.

Seaoil Philippines Inc. is engaged in the retail of gas products and operating 11 oil depots. It initially started with one station in 1997 and now with 400 stations across the country.

Double Dragon is a joint venture between Injap Investments Inc. headed by its Chairman Edgar ‘Injap’ Sia II, founder of Mang Inasal Philippines Inc., and Honeystar Holdings Corp. headed by its Chairman Mr. Tony Tan Caktiong, who is also the founder and chairman of Jollibee Foods Corp.
