Robin Padilla, ARMM officials, bring Valentine joy to Mamasapano folks

MAMASAPANO, Maguindanao, Feb. 15 – A movie star and his TV personality-wife, together with the ARMM regional governor and his wife, on Saturday gave “extra love” to thousands of Muslim civilians displaced and affected by the Jan. 25 encounter here.

Actor Robin Padilla urged residents to remain strong in the wake of issues and challenges confronting the government’s efforts to bring final and genuine peace in Mindanao.

Forty-four PNP Special Action Force officers, 18 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and several civilians died when the PNP Special Action Force served warrant of arrest for Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias “Marwan” and Filipino aide Basit Usman. Marwan died while Usman, although critically wounded, managed to escape with his followers.

Padilla and his wife were guests of the “Yakapayapaan” fellowship mission here Saturday meant to help the civilians cope with the psychological and emotional effect of the Mamasapano carnage.

Regional Gov. Mujib Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), led regional officials in the day-long outreach program along with wife Anak Mindanao Partylist Rep. Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman.

Through the Humanitarian Emergency Assistance and Response Team (HEART), ARMM regional government and the provincial government of Maguindanao have jointly been providing relief and rehabilitation services to some 3,000 villagers for more than two weeks already.

The “Yakapayapaan,” was envisioned to let the villagers they were not forgotten by the government.

Three weeks after the Jan. 25 debacle, many schools remained close as pupils still refuse to report to classes.
