Power back to “normal” in many areas after Typhoon Ruby

MANILA, Dec. 8 – Power back to “normal” in many areas after typhoon Ruby. The National Grid Corporation has completed power restoration works in Quezon and Sorsogon provinces after Tropical Storm “Ruby” affected transmission lines last Saturday.

The NGCP said on its 7:00 p.m. update, it has restored power in the entire Quezon and Sorsogon provinces on Monday, which was down since Saturday.

For Quezon, the grid operator re-energized the remaining disconnected town of Atimonan Monday.

Sorsogon province was completely restored with power Monday, after restoring the towns of Bulan and Irosin.

Power in Mulanay, Macalelon, Catanauan, Alabat, Perez, Calauag, Hondagua Phil. Flour Mill, Maguilayan, Tagkawayan and Guinyangan, all in Quezon Province, was restored Sunday.

The entire of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar are still without power while portions of Leyte, Iloilo and Bohol have been re-connected to the grid.

Parts of Leyte, which still have power outages, are Babatngon, Tacloban City, Carigara, Capoocan, Tunga, Barugo, Jaro, Alang-Alang, Sta. Fe, San Miguel, Leyte, Calubian, Burawen, Dagami, Pastrana, Tolosa, Tanauan, Lapaz, Julita, Tabon-tabon, Dulag, Hilongos, Bato, Hindang, Inopacan, Matalom, Isabel, Merida, Palompon, Baybay, Albuera, Merida and Kananga.

Partly re-energized Leyte municipalities are Tunga, Baybay, Ormoc City, Albuera, Merida and Kananga.

Bohol towns of Tubigon, Calape, Loon, Catigbian, Clarin and Balilihan, remain powerless due to Tropical Storm “Ruby”.

Sorsogon towns of Bulan and Irosin have been re-energized Monday.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has estimated about 1.7 million residents were disconnected to the grid during Ruby’s onslaught.

Transmission lines pass off power supply from power plants to distribution utilities, which are electric cooperatives for rural areas and the Manila Electric Company in the National Capital Region. (PNA)
