PH holds kick-off ceremony on APEC 2015 hosting

MANILA, Nov. 30 — The Philippine government is in the midst of preparations for the hosting of the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

On Monday, the kick-off ceremnoy will be held in Makati City with President Benigno S. Aquino III leading the event.

It will be hosted by the government’s partners at the Department of Trade and Industry which will be held at 5 p.m.

The unveiling of the Philippines’ hosting logo for APEC 2015 is one of the highlight of the event.

On December 8 and 9, the government will host the Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM) in Oriental Hotel in Legazpi City.

ISOM will serve as the venue for agenda setting of priorities of the 21 APEC member economies for the country’s hosting of the summit next year.

Participants are expected to arrive next Saturday or Sunday in Legazpi City.

The country’s hosting of APEC next year is its second after 19 years. The Philippines last hosted APEC in 1996 in Subic, during the administration of president Fidel V. Ramos.
