President Aquino’s foreign trips in 2014 costs P71.3M

President Benigno S. Aquino III’s foreign trips shouldered by the government are piling high and now totals P71.3 million for his 4 successive outings in 2014. And there are still three more months left in the year.

President Aquino’s trip to four countries in Europe and the United States this September has a combined cost of P46.7 million. The European visit of Spain, Belgium, France and Germany, was initially pegged at P31.9 million while the US trip costs P14.8 million.

According to Malacanang, the expenses for 8 days stay in Europe covers “transportation, accomodation, food, equipment and other requirements” of President Aquino and his entourage.

Three of the four countries provided hospitality since it was an official visit. The Belgium leg of the presidential trip was a working visit.

The USA leg of Aquino’s trip which costs P14.8 million also covers expenses for transportation, accommodation, food, equipment and other requirements of the president and his delegation.

It must be recalled that last June, the president together with a 41-member delegation went for a one-day trip to Japan at a cost of P8.8 million.

The ASEAN summit on May in Myanmar which lasted for 2 days cost P6.8 million

The two-day state visit in Malaysia cost P9 million.
