By September 15th this year, the Pag-Ibig fund regional center will move to Naga City. The new address will be housed in an office building now undergoing rehabilitation and repainting in time for the transfer. It is in the same structure being occupied by its Naga branch at Roxas avenue.

The change in location will make it easier to transact business for fund coordinators in Naga city, Iriga city, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and Burias island who for a long time had to bear the travel to the city of Legazpi where the regional office is located right now.

To fund coordinators of the above named jursidiction, it is a welcome and positive move.

But the decision to transefer away from Legazpi has made the prospect sour. The most afffected will come from the island provinces of Catanduanes and Masbate. Even those coming from Albay and Sorsogon are against the move, they having been used to transact business near their stations.

Some quarters alleged that the decision to transfer came from vice-president Jejomar Binay, chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

Groups opposing the transfer consider the Pag-Ibig Fund Legazpi branch as the housing hub for Bicol. But it is a lopsided and unbalanced opinion which only seem to favor employees of both private and national government agencies whose regional offices are located in the city.

Indeed, change is hard to accept.
