DAET, Camarines Norte – The National Electrification Administration has taken over the management operations of the Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative when it designated Engr. Wilfredo Bucsit as project supervisor beginning last March 10th up until a new general manager is hired.

Bucsit officially reported to the Canoreco office while officer-in-charge Efren Belgado remains the general manager to oversee day to day operations.

The NEA officer while tasked to oversee the operations and management of the cooperative, is also authorized to countersign checks, withdrawal slips and other banking transactions and perform other tasks for operational efficiency.

Despite Bucsit’s clarification that members of the board will remain in the course of the takeover, the coop board led by president Jesus Thomas Fernandez Jr. filed a motion for temporary restraining order to counter the office directive of the NEA.

On January 7 this year, the Sanguniang Panlalawigan passed a resolution requesting NEA to appoint a project supervisor.

In the last few months, the CANORECO board has appointed in succession four department heads as officers-in-charge.

The previous general manager Engr. Lorenzo Canlas Jr. was dismissed from his post in December of 2011 for alleged unexplained wealth and loans of the power firm during his management.

The electric cooperative serves member-consumers in the province of Camarines Norte and its towns of Daet, Basud, Capalonga, Labo, Mercedes, Paracale, Panganiban, San Vicente, Sta. Elena, Talisay, and Vinzons. (with PIA report)
