Gale force winds likely to affect Luzon, Visayas areas

MANILA, Jan. 10 — Be forewarned. The waters off Northern Luzon, the Visayas and eastern seaboards of Aurora, Quezon, and Southern Luzon, may experience rough to very rough seas with waves 3.4 meters to 4.5 meters high due to strong to gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon which are likely to affect these areas.

”Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” the state weather bureau said on warning issued Friday (Jan. 10).

Expect a 52 kph to 63 kph winds in Northern Luzon’s seaboards and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.

Such seaboards cover Calayan and Babuyan islands, Batanes province, the northern coast of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte provinces as well as the provinces of Catanduanes, the Camarines provinces plus the eastern coast of Albay, Sorsogon and Polillo Islands.

The agency forecast in the areas partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

PAGASA likewise forecast 52 kph to 63 kph winds in the Visayan islands of Samar, Leyte, Negros, Guimaras and Bohol.

Such areas will likely experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. (PNA)
