Weather Update: LPA brings rains over south Luzon regions

2013_1113_Pagasa_logoThe low pressure area (in Palawan) continues to bring rains over Luzon, including Metro Manila, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Wednesday.

In its 11 a.m advisory, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 158 kilometers northeast of Puerto Princesa City (10.8°N 119.7°E), bringing moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan.

It added that local residents are advised to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Due to wind convergence from the LPA and the northeast monsoon, Central and Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila will experience light to moderate rainshowers, while Calabarzon, the Bicol region and the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar said that the LPA is expected to re-intensify into a cyclone, while passing the West Philippine Sea as it exits from the country’s territory.

“Kung sakali naman na sa West Philippine Sea ito mag-reintensify, wala na rin masyadong maaapektuhan dahil palabas na rin ito ng bansa,” she noted.
