Typhoon ‘Yolanda’ makes fourth landfall in Bantayan, Cebu; cuts power in several provinces. The state weather bureau on Friday said typhoon Yolanda has made its fourth landfall over the island of Bantayan in the province of Cebu at 10:40 A.M.
PAGASA also said that red warning signal was issued at 10 a.m., over the northern portion of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental. “Serious flooding is expected in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas,” it said.
A red rainfall advisory is issued when downpours constitute an emergency. This is raised when observed rainfall is more than 30 mm within one hour or if rainfall has continued for the past three hours and is more than 65 mm.

Typhoon “YOLANDA” has made fifth landfall over Concepcion, Iloilo.
When PAGASA raises a red warning, communities should be prepared to respond. It means serious flooding is seen and that residents should be ready to evacuate to safety.
PAGASA added that around 10:48 a.m., expect light to moderate to at times heavy rains in Metro Manila, Batangas, Bulacan,Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal and Quezon, which may persist for two to three hours.
Meanwhile, power transmission in the entire provinces of Bohol, Samar, and Leyte are now affected by Typhoon Yolanda, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said Friday.
In a statement, the grid operator said all 69kV lines in Samar and Leyte and three 230 kV lines namely the Marshalling-Tabango lines 1 and 2, Ormoc-Mashalling lines 1 and 2 and Tabango-Daanbantayan lines 1 and 2 are currently facing problems.
Also, the 138 kV lines along Ormoc-Isabel, Ormoc-Babatngon, Ormoc-Maasin, Babatngon-Paranas lines 1 and 2, Paranas-Calbayog Line 2, Ormoc-Tongonan, Maasin-Ubay and Ormoc-Cabacungan are also affected.
Relatively, parts of the provinces of Agusan del Norte are experiencing power outage after the cyclone affected the Butuan-Cabadbaran-Santiago 69 kV line.
Parts of Surigao del Norte is also experiencing power failure after the typhoon affected the Placer-Madrid 69 kV line.
Some areas in the province of Sorsogon are also without power after Yolanda affected the Sorsogon-Irosin 69 kV line.
“Aerial patrol, inspection and restoration of lines in the affected areas will be in full swing as soon as the weather allows,” the grid operator said. (PNA)
