The Philippine National Police Bicol regional office sacked the chiefs of police of six local government units in the region because of erroneous reports on crime statistics in the respective areas of responsibility.

Insp. Malou Calubaquib, PNP Bicol regional spokesperson, identified the sacked police as Supt. Lorenzo Trajano of Daraga town, Chief Insp. Mauro Taytay of Oas, Albay; Senior Insp. Norlando Mesa of Milagros, Masbate; Supt. Rodolfo Abella, Masbate City; Senior Insp. James Ronatay, San Miguel, Catanduanes; and Supt. Efren Tublan, Labo, Camarines Norte.

Calubaquib said the regional office found inconsistencies in the reports of these chiefs of police that they sent to the regional headquarters here about crime statistics in their respective areas of operation.

Even e-blotter system, a new program of the PNP, had not been complied with during the validation made on police officers who underwent the Investigation Officers Basic Course as part of their academic requirements.

The police removed from their positions are now assigned with the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit based inside the camp.

Calubaquid said the present PNP leadership has a policy now where the records of the crimes committed in a certain LGU should be listed on a Card Crime Registrar.

The PNA learned that the crime record in the barangay should tally with the police blotter being sent to Camp Ola and Camp Crame for the PNP Chief.

It also learned that after an investigation and the sacked police chiefs can satisfactorily answer certain questions, they will be returned to their respective posts.

The PNP national leadership is now very strict in implementing the new police programs in the entire country. (PNA)
