Photo Update of the Parish Church of the Black Nazarene in Binanuaanan Pequeño

2013_0522_blacknazareneOn a short visit to Binanuaanan Pequeño, we were able to make a quick stop-over by the newest landmark of the barangay which was a must on our part. Since the barangay is a one-street affair, like majority of those in the municipality of Calabanga, there was no way we can get lost into the wilderness searching for the structure.

We were looking for the new Catholic Parish in the area, one of several which was established by the Archdiocese of Caceres in 2009.  Specifically in August 29, 2009, the Parish of the Black Nazarene was canonically erected by (now retired) Archbishop, the Most. Rev. Leonardo Z. Legazpi, O.P., D.D., S.Th.D., Ph.D.

The upland parish prides itself as the 78th which was the fruition of the indefatigable drive and leadership of the Bicol Catholic Metropolitan See in its purposeful stride in the establishment of more for the faithful near their places of residence.

Indeed, parishioners were very thankful with their barangay appointed as the central location of the parish. Before, devout residents went back down a few kilometers to Paolbo’s church of Divine Mercy or to the town center’s La Porteria.

2013_0522_blacknazarene2The vision of putting a physical church from a dream to reality started with a donation from good Samaritans.  The siblings Glenn and Lourdes Mendoza, heirs of Juanito Mendoza, brought forward a donation initiative in favor of the hopeful parish.  They offered a parcel of land enough for the church and perhaps more structures in the near future, a real estate measuring four thousand square meters.

Now, barely four years have passed and the church construction is still on-going. Parishioners can’t wait to see the edifice completed soon.

On our visit, we failed to go see the first and current parish priest, the Rev. Fr. Antonio Rex M. Palaya.
