78% of Voters in CamSur 3rd District Like Robredo

2013_0429_lrobredoIf the elections were held between April 11 and 12, the sure winner in the 3rd congressional district of Camarines Sur will be Liberal Party candidate Atty. Leni Robredo. This was the finding of London-based pollster entity Taylor Nelson Sofres.

The study revealed the Robredo widow had 78% per cent nod of the voters against her closest rival Atty. Nelly Villafuerte at 16%. But while the result favored Mrs Robredo, the sample only involved 600 respondents from the district.

The apparent popularity of Leni can still be credited partially to the ripple effect of people’s sympathy to, and popularity of her husband, the former DILG secretary Jesse Robredo who had an untimely disastrous accident last year.

Even if with the overwhelming majority are said to vote for Robredo, it still remain to be proven if really the constituents will cast their votes in her favor or if the votes cast will be attributed to her in the end.

Mrs. Villafuerte, former Trade and Industry Undersecretary and columnist of Manila Bulletin, is the supposed heir-apparent to the position vacated by her three-termer, thus termed-out, husband.

The strong political clout and popularity of the Villafuerte clan will be tested this May mid-term elections. Some sectors view the candidacies of both Luis Villafuerte, Sr. and his grandson Miguel for governor, Nelly, and termed-out governor LRay for the second district are strangling the province of fresh leaders.

Meanwhile, businesswoman Atty. Loida Nicolas Lewis was confirmed to be raising funds to help the campaign of the LP congressional candidate. Lewis who hails from Bulan of Sorsogon province was in Illinois, USA, where she appealed to Bicolanos in the area during a special function. The philanthropist expressed desire to match an equivalent amount on the fund raised to support Robredo’s campaign.

  1. In Leni’s modest campaign sorties, people believe in her candid and straight talk. Could it be the embodiment of new “politics” in CamSur? Crowd cheers her presence: LENI!! LEN!! LENI!!

  2. I wish someone like Leni or a Him will stand up to run for election against the Singsons/Crisologos of Ilocos Sur. Is 300m pesos is only your worth versus millions/billions of pesos pocketed by these TRAPOS during their term as elected mayors, congressman, govers and kagawada?

    1. Maybe in the next political exercises, one or more “fresh faces” may stand to put a good fight and win in the Ilocos. Thanks for your comment.
