DepEd Releases Graduation Rites 2013 Guideline

A simple yet unforgettable graduation for students.

This is what education secretary Luistro wants for graduating students to experience this year.

The secretary said the rites itself should be an affair that includes civic duties, sense of community and personal responsibilities and should be memorable and exciting without extravagant splurges.

“It is a part of the Department of Education’s public service to the people in giving a simple yet an unforgettable graduation for students and that they deserve a ceremony without paying a cent,” Luistro said in a statement.

In line with its reform agenda, DepEd has released the 2013 graduation rites with with the theme “Building the Nation’s Future Leaders through the K to 12 Basic Education Program.”

In a statement, DepEd said it is still implementing the “No collection” of graduation fees and enforcing students to submit non-academic projects as requirement to graduate is strictly prohibited.

Since the election day is almost near, DepEd prompts respect from campaigning politicians the graduation rites is a solemn ceremony intended for the graduating students and their parent and should not be used as a platform for political forum.

Graduation rites should be scheduled either on the 18th or 19th or March.
