Albay Receives Today Robredo’s Pamana Award

2013_0318_albayAlbay province gets recognition for its innovations and excellence in local governance with the 2012 Gawad Pamana ng Lahi from the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The award is the penultimate seal of good housekeeping given only to local government units with consistent showing over a consecutive three-year period.

The LGU honor will be handed out today at the Disodado Macapagal Hall of the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The premier Bicol province is the first to win the award nationwide for its programs in health, environment and education.

Albay with governor Jose Salceda focused on sustained education program which is the biggest funded scholarship project granted by the Albay local government. It has 34,000 scholars.

Salceda also nortured universal health care services via Philhealth. The governor also espoused a medical course at the local Bicol University in partnership with Bicol Regional Teaching and Training Hospital (in previous years was also known as Albay provincial hospital).

Gawad Pamana ng Lahi was established by former DILG secretary Jesse Robredo.
