Francia Falcon Apelo, Educator

A portrait taken during the blessing of the just completed Divine Mercy Parish church in Paolbo. Franz shown here sitting beside the parish priest, Fr. Jovi Balang.

Francia Falcon Apelo, one of the pillars of the local educational community will be surely missed soon enough. She last handled the post of school counsellor at the Calabanga Polytechnic college (now the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture). Previous to that, she was well remembered at the Calabanga Central Division Pilot School for the several subjects she ably handled. Sad to say here, she passed away three days ago.

One of her limited but memorable public appearance must be during the eventful blessing and solemn dedication of the Divine Mercy Parish church in Paolbo on July last year. Despite the mobility limitations she joined her family in that happy and momentous occasion. It could be one of her earnest dream finding the home of a new parish basking in the sun in full completion in the ancestral land their family owns.

She is survived by siblings Letty, Franco, Virginia, Antonio, Jr, and Jose. Their parents were the late Antonio, Sr, (former mayor of Calabanga) and Teodora.

Facebookers has this to say about her:

Dengay Avila: I got the information through the status of a former classmate, Eva Elopre Barrameda. This really saddened me. Ma’am Francia Falcon Apelo has already passed away. I was suddenly transported back to my grade school days in Calabanga Central Division Pilot school, my alma mater. Ma’am Franz was then my grade five class adviser.

She was a very good music teacher and a real songbird. She’s also my favorite in English. To her I attribute my love for reading and writing. How I love to pore in her old teachers’s magazines scanning for fairy tales . The passing away of a mentor always leaves a void in my heart. Being a teacher now myself, I just couldn’t forget my mentors like maam Franz who’s also my confirmation ninang (godmother). She was a teacher who not only teaches but inspires.

Ma’am Franz, you are one of the persons who have given me roots and wings to fly! Maam Franz, the sincere thanks and gratitude of the pupils whose lives you touched will be your crowning glory in heaven.

From Zoe Beran: Thanks for sharing this sad but need to know news cuz…you and Eden had said it all, …MAY SHE REST IN PEACE!!! My heartfelt prayers & condolences to the loved ones that she left behind!!!
