All Systems Go for Barangay Elections on Monday

No computerized machines will be used on tomorrows political exercise according to the Commission on Elections. Counting of votes will be done manually.

All candidates for barangay position rests today as the campaign period ended Saturday midnight. The waiting game will be over as voters write their verdict in ballots tomorrow. One fact we are sure, there will be more non-winning candidates than winners.

Mariane Ramos, who is running for San Pablo SK chairman, reported that the group of candidate for barangay captain Salvador Malate had their last meeting-campaign (miting de avance) last night in huddle with supporters and voters. Free food was served at the meeting.

Must be a typical scene that happened around the country as candidates woed voters and voiced for the last time their promises and plans for the next three years once elected.

Tomorrow, some 490,470 public elementary school teachers around the country will conduct an orderly election for positions that range from barangay captain, barangay council members, kabataang barangay (KB) chairman and kabataang barangay council members.

A total of 42,025 barangay chairmen, 294,174 barangay councilmen, 42,025 KB chairmen and 294,175 KB will get their seats after the election.

According to the national Commission on Election there are 50,259,571 eligible voters in the barangay elections and 52,720,603 for the SK elections, in 163,484 clustered or grouped precincts in the country.
