All roads lead to Bicol. So with flights from Manila and Cebu.

Bus transport services adding more frequencies to accomodate the throng of passengers’ queue at reservation counters. Airlines that takes off from Cebu and Manila with Legazpi and Naga as destination will also add more flights.

These are some of the transport scenarios as the 1st of September ushers in. This is the 2010 last quarter “storm” of visitors that will fill the coffers of the cities, towns and provinces which will benefit from the festivities and merriment.

A few days from now, on September 10, the region begins the celebration of 300 years of devotion, the Tercentenary of the (Virgin of, also) Our Lady of Peñafrancia. The religious observance is the focal point. It is also a fiesta celebration, touted as the biggest of them all, ever since it was observed.

The road ends in three ways: At the Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, the nearby Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, all in the city of Naga.

In a way, this will be a respite from the thunderous shame brought by that senseless murder of Hong Kong tourists in the capital. Of course finger pointing and an escape goat to blame is the game.

But first, there will be the town fiestas in Legazpi, Daraga and Calabanga.

Come on, come south, and visit the region. Experience Bicol and pray more.
