Houses on Stilts by the Sea

A boat ride is one way in getting to the city of Masbate and the island province of Masbate from the Bicol peninsula. The choppy trip of about fifty miles traverses the seas in the vicinity of Ticao Pass and Masbate Pass.

One gets treated to views of wide expanse of sea, islands and mountains on the way.

But very interesting and always a common sight, not only in the region but in many parts of the country as well, are houses on stilts not on the edge of the bay but literally built on the waters. During high tide and big waves, these structures are precariously in danger.

Can you imagine sleeping at night and hearing the gentle rush of waves below?

  4. Very nice to see this. My bff is from Burias Island and she married one from Masbate proper. I was telling her she should take me over there and see the place.

  5. Hi Japa, i dunno if i have come back last week but to answer your inquiry – the divine mercy hills is located in el salvador. around 20 kilometers out of the cagayan de oro city south ward. It was a great place to visit with your camera.

houses by the sea? oh no! when the waters are high i am worried of them. that’s the sea the other day and yesterday while travelling the waters from mukas to ozamis city and back. mataas ang tubig at mahangin pa. i wonder if they get carried away when the water is really high and big.

    Happy weekend to you!
