La Porteria Church Gets Roof Renovation

The parish church of Our Lady of La Porteria, one of the six in the town, gets the much needed roof renovation. While inside the church the opened roof allowed us to watch clouds swiftly pass by but so strenuous to one’s neck looking up. So we don’t encourage skywatching this way unless one manages the ongoing construction.

For this current repair project, the thrust is to make the roof more sturdy and withstand strong typhoons that is a seasonal occurrence this side of the Pacific.

I remember when we were little, while church service is going on, we can see bats fly overhead and making “bat” sounds for the creatures have illegally relocated and formed colonies on the ceilings. But that was long ago for the parish took cognizance of the problem and the interior was flushed of the critters for good. That was a great relief.
