LEGAZPI CITY – This Bicol city hosted last year more than half a million tourists, an increase of 32.27 percent from the previous year’s number of arrivals.

As recorded by the Bicol regional office of the Department of Tourism, the total arrivals of both domestic and foreign tourists here for the whole year of 2013 reached 579,470, which was higher by 141,370 over the previous year.

The city government pursues a massive tourism promotion campaign that highlights the city’s natural wonders, according to Mayor Noel Rosal.

And since tourism growth enlivens trade and commerce, the mayor said, the local business climate has also been made pleasant as investment opportunities have been going broader and more fortified.

Among the latest and most significant additions to the city’s commercial and tourism landmarks are the Central Bus Terminal, a P300-million Public-Private Partnership (PPP) investment that refurbished the city’s public transportation landscape.
